I was catching up on some Planet Money podcasts recently and decided to listen to one about the Internet site Alibaba.
I guess I was rather ignorant about who Alibaba is and what you can buy there. I was thinking it was a social network, probably because of its affiliation with Yahoo. Boy was I wrong.
You can think of Alibaba like Amazon or Ebay, except you can buy way more on Alibaba — you can get a used 747 airplane, or an oil tanker, or 500 million tiny screws.
